Production Log
This week our challenge was to complete the entire music video for uploading it onto our YouTube accounts. At the beginning of the week we filled in our free periods to come in and carry on editing our music video to make it complete, there were still a lot of scenes that we had to cut and fit in with the video, we did have to add quite a few effects to our music video to make it flow and seem professional. While we was editing we also did learn and pick up a few new techniques with final cut expression, with the split screen effect to allow the audience to see to scenes at once to create a story.
We managed to finish the editing of the music video by Wednesday evening which was on time as we were planning on uploading the video by Friday.

There wasn't many problems that we came across this week which is good seeing as this was one of our busiest weeks of editing. I did come across a problem on Wednesday because I had to be somewhere important but I also had to be in to edit and so I chose to stay and edit which did cause a slight problem for me but thankfully I did manage to sort it out.
Now that all the editing is now complete, we will be focusing on uploading to videos to our blogs and beginning our next unit.
Overall this project has been a challenge and difficult, but at the same time I did enjoy it as I was able to show my skills and also learn new things which is always an advantage.

production log
This week has been quite a long and stressful week with the editing and trying to make the music video look as professional as possible.
We've been tightening our music video and adding more scenes that were needed.

Editing this week definitely fitted in with our production schedule as we did make sure that we stayed on task. This also fitted in with our job role and we were able to discuss our ideas that we had and show it in our music video. We did manage to stay behind at the end of day to complete the editing to make sure our music video was done and up to our expectations.
The only problem that we came across this week was when we was editing and we had to make sure that we was 'cutting to the beat', and throughout the music video you can easily tell when we weren't cutting to the beat which isn't a good thing at all because it doesn't look effective enough. The other problem that we had was the weather, unfortunately the weather on the weekend was terrible which did throw us off course because we needed a dry day to film but we managed to deal with the problem and carry on filming
So for next week we will need to make sure that we cut to the beat and that the music video flows well.
This week we will also be editing the new footage that we managed to get over the weekend and making sure it flows with the rest of the video.

production log
This week has been quite a hectic week, with the editing and trying to make the music video look as professional as possible.
We've been going through our script and matching the different scenes to the correct sequence.
While we was editing we was coming up with really good and strong ideas that we never thought of before, which then showed the progress that we was making daily with editing.

Editing this week definitely fitted in with our production schedule as we did make sure that we stayed on task and able to produce and brilliant piece of work.
This also fitted in with our job role and we were able to bounce off each others ideas that we had that we knew would bring out the quality of the music video.
At the moment I can definitely say that the music video is fitting in with our overall ideas, we obviously have much more ideas and plans for the video which will be shown later on down the line.
This week there was a slight problem with myself, I fell poorly at the beginning of the week, but I was able to get in contact with my partner and found out exactly how the project was going and also give my ideas even though I wasn't physically there. I was able to return back to my lesson and continue with the editing as planned.
There wasn't much/isn't much that I can really do to overcome this problem again, but if unfortunately this problem happens again I will have to try my hardest to make it to my lesson if possible.

We will also be deciding what more footage we can get for our extra filming which will be a great advantage to boost up our view of the video.
We are also planning this week to stay behind and work on as much as we can to fully complete the video by the draft deadline which is on the 14th March. We made sure that we was going to dedicate our free time to produce a great music video.

production log
This week we have been getting our final filming done of the music video. We have mainly been focusing on the footage that we already have and just filming more that we had forgotten to do and also other ideas that we thought of along the way.
We have also been discussing how we could make the music video even better that it would stand out, and we have come up with a few ideas that required more filming which wasn't a problem at all as we were prepared for that at the beginning anyway.
What we have done this week, definitely fits in with out production schedule and also our roles because we have been sorting out our finishing of the music video and making sure that we stick to the script as much as possible and also resolving any problems that we may come across while filming and also while editing.
This week we have also been uploading all our footage onto the PC that we will be working on till the video has finished. We started editing some of the footage that was possible and that we wanted to keep. There were parts of the video that we had to cut, crop and change the motion to fit the vision we had of the music video.
There were a few problems that we did unfortunately come across this week of filming, some of the locations that we planned to use were not possible to use which did cause a problem because we did have to quickly find a new location which would be best to film at.
Another problem that we came across was transport, there were as few trains that were not running from time to time and also the times of the bus were irregular which then cut into time of our filming that we could've used.
Now that we have finally got 100% of filming done, we can now upload all the footage onto our PC, and also focus on editing the whole music video and making it look as professional as possible.

production log
This week for filming we have been sorting out our schedule and making sure that everyone in our cast and crew and all available for the filming of our music video.
We have been going through clips of the video that we filmed during the week, and decided which clips we were
keeping and which were going to be deleted.
We are also filming tomorrow at the o2 and westfield Stratford/station.
All that we've done this week does fit in with the production schedule and our job roles because we are making sure that we follow our time schedule and staying on task with the dates and locations.
We didn't seem to have any problems this week which is definitely good because the week went smoothly, I think that they only problem we may start coming across is the weather, lately it seems to be getting colder which makes it harder for us to film and for the cast to act out.
We overcome this problem by just letting all the cast and crew know that they need to come dressed appropriate to the weather.
For next week we are hoping to completely get all our shots and finish the filming Then hopefully start editing the week after.

Music video log
This past week we have been fully structuring our script for the music video that we are planning to start filming throughout the half term and the week when we return to school.

We also spoke to the casts that are going to be in the music video ands just letting them know what exactly it is that they have to do, and just really making sure that they are all definitely up to doing this and making sure that they are comfortable with the arrangements.
What we have done this week definitely fits in with the production schedule and our job roles because we are preparing for the filming of the music video and just making sure that everything is well organized which it is.
Along the way we have had to change some of our ideas because it doesn't fit that well with everyone for example some of our cast weren't available on certain days which meant we had to change the days.
There weren't that many problems this week, everything seemed alright. I think the only thing that was a slight problem was the availability and time but that seems to have gotten solved which is good.

production log
This week for our music video production, we have mainly been planning of what it is that we want in the music video and how we want it done to make it look good as possible.
We've been going through our script for the cast in the music video and what it is we want them to do. We have also been going through our permission schedule which is for a few of our locations 'London' and 'Lakeside shopping centre' and once we have gotten permission we will start filming.
We were also going through how we want the video to look, and we had a few ideas that we based with keyshia cole video 'should have cheated' and also Skepta video.

In this music video, there are cuts of narrative and performance. That is exactly the type of style that we would like to put into our music video.
This fits in with our production schedule very well, because this is a part of what we have to do before we start actually filming.
This also fits our job rolls which is directing and organising everything of the preparation of the up coming music video.
There was no problems that we came across which is definitely a good sign, we seem to be on task which is also fantastic and will hopefully be able to film in the half term and onwards with also hopefully no problems.
This week, we are planning to completely finish our script and take copies of it for us, the teacher and our cast. We are also planning to get our main vocalist to learn the song and perfect her lip syncing so that she is ready for filming. And really we are just making sure everything is ready for filming and everyone has a good/clear idea of what is going on.

Pitch Reflection
My task was to present a presentation that I made explaining my ideas about the music video I will create.
I have just recently gotten permission from the unsigned artist to use their lyrics for my music video, I have been emailing her everyday for the pass 2 weeks and I wasn't getting reply which was becoming very stressful because I wasn't sure on how else I could get through to the artist for the permission. But thankfully theartist got back to me on the 30/1/13 and she gave me permission to use her lyrics and she would like to see the finished product if possible.
My first idea was to have the basic scene of the bedroom, park and shopping mall where the male and female attraction grow throughout the video and become close at the end.

That is exactly what I want my music video story to be based on because it will match the lyrics but I'm not to sure now if I want the locations that I chose before.
I have listened to the song and looked over the lyrics continuously for the pass few days and I would like to change one of my locations. Instead of having the beginning verse being filmed in the main vocalist bedroom, I am thinking of changing the location to the music studio where the artist will walk in the studio and put on the headphones provided and sing into the microphone while I'm filming, then while she is still in the studio I can then film the parts where she'll be at the other locations that I had chosen.
I think this idea will be much better as it is different and goes well with the song and definitely the genre 'RnB'. I know for a fact that this new idea will work perfectly and will be manageable as all the locations are local.
I am now going to base that scene in my music video from the song 'Should have cheated' by Keyshia Cole, in her music video there are parts of the scenes where she is in the music studio singing into the microphone and then it cuts to the other locations of her and her boyfriend.

Using this type of location is more of a narrative video because it is telling/showing you a story which is the idea that I wanted. For this location 'music studio' I can then have more close ups while of her singing into the microphone showing her facial expressions which will match the lyrics in the song and the audience will be able to understand and feel the artist emotions throughout the music video.
In RnB the music artist will make themself stand out with the genre item. This is to get the audience remember then as an RnB artist. Having my artist being identified with the braids and the urban lady clothing (tight jeans, leather jacket/jean jacket or blazer, boots, hoop earrings and chains) this is all the type of RnB stereotype that people get which is what I want my artist to be identified with, the way that she will be standing out from the crowd is the way she presents herself with her look/identity (confidence).
They also knew the main idea as a whole, the audience could tell exactly what my idea of the music video is going to be and they knew the story behind it, which is the most important thing that I wanted to focus on and make sure that the audience knew my plan for the music video so then it would be easier for when they are following through the presentation.
This helps both me and the audience by them being able to get any fresh ideas from my presentation for their idea and also for my to get advice on how to grow my ideas.

There are areas of improvement that the audience gave to me which I think is very important as it can help me with changing any of the ideas that I have.
The audience gave me improvements where they were concerned about the permission of the locations that I have chosen (London and Lakeside).
One of my locations is the London Eye or near Southbank this is because I think that it is a beautiful scene to film for a relationship music video because of the atmosphere that is around the area (amazing views of London). The audience was concerned about that in London you will need permission to film if you are going to be using a tripod because it's for health and safety reasons about setting up with the public and they wouldn't appreciate if anyone gets injured.
Because I want my music video to look smooth, I will then need to use a tripod so I am going to have to send a email to the council and ask for permission to film using a tripod in the locations that I have chosen to film, if I happen to get a rejection from the council then I will have to either film without a tripod or change my location.
If I decide to change my location then I will film in the shopping centre in Lakeside or Ilford, this could still work well if done at the correct time, which is when rush hour is over.

The only problem that I will have when filming in a shopping centre is that some places like Lakeside I will need to get permission to film and aslo the public getting involved in the video will be a massive problem because I do not mind having the public walking behind the acting because it will make it seen more realistic, but I do not want them messing it up and interferring.

From the feedback that I got from my audience I will have a look at the permission again for the location that I want to use 'London eye or near the Thames' if there happens to be a problem and I can not get permission then I will have to change my idea and choose a different location that will be appropiate for the music video idea, so I will go with my plan B that I have of using the shopping centre.
I have and will still be taking in all the feedback that I have gotten from the audience because I think it is vital for when creating a strong music video and I will still be thinking of any improvements that may need to be changed.

Email sent to the artist
This is an image of the email that I sent to the artist that I wanted to create the music video for with their lyrics.
In the email I am bascially asking for their permission for me to use their lyrics in my music video, this is very important as it is their lyrics that they have created and I need to make sure that they are 100 % fine with me doing so.
Analysis Artist lyrics
unsigned artist
my task was to find a unsigned artist and use their lyrics to create a music video for my coursework.
The lyrics are about a girl who wants attention from a guy that she likes and how she would be right for him. She also describes yourself, how she's like and what you will expect from her. I think that having description of yourself in your lyrics are very important especially if you are a new artist in the music industrt, this is because you want people to know who you are and remember who you are as well.
This song I think the target audience is around the age of late teenager 17-19 years old because this song is about love and emotions and I think around late teenager age is when you start to develop these types of feelings and so then these age groups will definetely be able to relate to this song and want to listen to the song.
The type of gender that would listen/buy this song is mainly females, this is because is a female and is singing about a guy she likes.
The location that this type of song will be placed in the neighbour hood which is the main stereotype of the urban RnB genre. This will definetely link in with the music because it is based on the genre and the set. This type of music is RnB which is a type oif urban style music which bases on the beat of the music.
'My Name'
lyrics:
One, two I got my eye on you boy
I'm the type that you should be with
let me explain
I'm the girl that's gonna give it all
everything that you ever want
a real lady somebody that you can call your lady
In this verse the artist is singing about a guy that she has a crush on/ has feelings for him and want's there to be a connection between them.
The lyrics could also have a twist on it and it could be a narrative video, so the main vocalist (the artist) that is singing the song but the camera will not focus on them, instead the camera will be on the cast members that will be acting out the story of the lyrics. But the artist could be in the music video but they won't be showing them singing, instead they could be walking down a road or standing next to the main cast but the audience will not know who they are (intentionally).
The beat of the tempo is quite slow and so therefore the moving of the camera will also be slow so that it will fit with the beat.
chorus1
Dial my number and I'll be there
I'm a down ass chick that can't compare
oh boy let me show you real try love
I'm the type of girl that you dream of
x2
chorus 2
My name is Tondalia, I am here
I'm the new cute girl on the scenes
right now is the time yet to shine
all lights on me imma steam my rhyme
The chorus of the song explains to the audience that she can stand out and describe what she is and exactly what it is that she wants.
The chorus is repeated atleast 4 times, this is because it's the main part of the song that the artist wants the audience to focus on, this could be because there is a message in that particular lyrics.
I know you like that, I know you want that
I know you need that, I know you fraunt
like you don't see me looking at you
Boy it's ok, it's all cool
I just want you to remember one thing
I'm the real girl and the others faking
If you let me show you true love
let me tell youu this again
This verse explains about how she knows what the guy wants and that she can provide for him, this also shows the audience that she can clearly explain what she wants through her lyrics.
Chorus 1 x2
Chorus 2 x2
nic nac paddy wak catch my ring tone
I'm the new chick let me put my best on
Imma say it now yes imma say it now
Imma say it now, yes imma say it now
This verse shows how she can play around with her words, (humour) and still be able to let it sink/flow with the rest of the lyrics, which is what an artist should focus on.
Some of the lyrics are repeated a few times, this is again so that audience picks up on what she is saying because it's being repeated.

In the music video I will create it as the typical R&B genre of music video. The main cast (the artist) has a group of her mates around her listening to what she is explaining/describing about the guy she likes.
The scenes that I would want the music video to be set is either, in the shopping mall where she and her mates are going out for the night and then she noticing a guy that she thinks is her type and that could be how it starts.
Another scene is where she could be walking down a street near her area and a group of guys come up to her and her friends and they start talking and getting to know eachother and that could also be where it starts, or the scene could be that she already has a guy and they go out for a date up London to view the sites.
The tempo of the song is quite slow, there's parts in thre music where the tempo slightly speeds up on the chorus. This then makes me aware that I will be using mainly slow moving camera and quite a lot of close ups in the video. This is to get the audience to see the artist facial and body expressions which is very important as you can match it up with the tone/tempo of the song.

Creating my artist's identity
My task for this project, was to find an artist that I want to create a music video with their lyrics.
Once I found the artist I now need to research information about them and how I want then to stand out with their identity that I am creating for them.
The artist that I have chosen is called 'Tondalia' from New York
Tondalia is signed to 'SDS Records' and has been signed for at least 3 years.
Tondalia is a 19 year old black Caribbean American girl that lives in New York. Tondalia has been writing and singing music for over 10 years. Making and producing music is one of her best hobbies that she loves doing because she is well known to it.
She has music role models that she looks up to when she is mixing music: 'Mary J Blidge, Alicia Keys, Kelly Price, Diana Ross, Faith Evens'.
The type of music genre that Tondalia mixes is mainly RnB because that's where she feels much more comfortable doing because she can feel the beats that are in the music.

These are some examples of the type of urban clothing that I would want artist to be wearing.
These items of clothing as represented in the music industry as urban and stylish, which is exactly what my artist focuses on. These items are also clothes that people wear everyday, and therefore can also bond with the artist as they have the same style of clothing.
Typography that I would use for their logo will be bold, bright (Gold, Red, Pink, Orange)something that will stand out to the audience and grab their attention, writing will be 25 font size so that it's readable.
I will also want a logo that is memorable, so when people see the logo and something that represents it, they will straight away thing of my artist and the music she creates.

I would use a variety of different bold and bright colours. I want my artist to stand out, something that represents them and people will remember them by that item.
The colour gold is quite a bold colour to use and the meaning behind it is also powerful as gold is seen as strong, expensive, style.
The colour pink is such a bright and bold colour that it is used so much in people's clothing, objects etc.
The colour pink also shows a sign of elegance and woman style.
The colour orange is also a bright and bold colour that can be used in the logo for the artist identity.
Orange is a calm, summerful colour that some may think, but you can also have a twist on it and it could be a sign of danger or flames.
Mis-en-scene that I will use in the artist music video

I've chosen these different places of sets that I could use when filming the music video for my artist.
All these scenes are perfect for the song, and matches the genre of what my artist sings.

These are the kind of images that would be in your mind when you listen to the lyrics.
